PUBLIC DESIGN
BUS SHELTER
A Case of Tangshan Dacheng Mountain & Fenghuang Mountain Stations: Optimizing Pedestrian Flow & Enhancing Urban Landscape
Introduction
Rooted in Tangshan’s industrial heritage, we use steel, glass and wood to integrate industrial culture and humanistic care. For Dacheng Mountain and Fenghuang Mountain stations, the design provides barrier-free and bicycle zones, AED, children seats, and intelligent stops with real-time bus info, weather and crowd data.
Fenghuang Mountain station adopts a semi-enclosed glass structure as an urban screen to organize traffic and adapt to the local climate. Dacheng Mountain station features compact layout, with patterns inspired by traditional kasaya and seat forms from the mountain gate, interpreting local culture in modern Chinese style to renew urban landscape.

Design Summary
Through this Tangshan bus station design project, I have systematically learned the theories and practical methods of environmental art design, and mastered the complete process of site analysis, urban context research, and investigation of surrounding environment and user needs.
Integrating Tangshan’s regional culture and urban characteristics, I combined public function, humanistic care and landscape aesthetics in the design. It has trained my full-process design ability from site investigation, concept generation, scheme development to design presentation.
In addition, I have gained a deeper understanding that public facility design must balance practicality, safety and regionality. This project has improved my spatial narration, overall layout and systematic design thinking, and laid a solid practical foundation for my future urban public environment design.
